Best Dog Parks In Calgary

Calgary's vibrant, rapidly growing city takes its quality of life very seriously, which has attracted a lot of pawsitive attention. The city offers several public facilities and city parks, both on and off leash dog access, with various trails and terrains for dogs and their owners to explore. The following places are some of the best dog parks in Calgary.

Roxboro & Erlton Off-Leash Dog Park

A wooded trail is the central focus of the Roxboro experience. When on this trail, owners must keep their dogs on leash. However, the park adjacent to the trail does allow dogs to be off-leash. Enjoy views of the downtown Calgary skyline while walking this trail.

Bowmont Park

Bowmont Park is a large, multi-use park encompassing over 164 acres. Multiple off-leash areas are sprinkled throughout the park. One feature of this dog destination is an access point to the river.

McHugh Bluff Off-Leash Dog Park

McHugh Bluff is known for its gorgeous vistas and higher altitude. The trail runs from 10th Street NW all the way to Centre Street. This bluff runs along the Bow River, just outside of downtown Calgary.

Sue Higgins Park

All 64 hectares of Sue Higgins Park run along the west bank of the Bow River and features varied river-adjacent terrains including river banks, an island, a flood plain and even swampy marshes. This park has the largest fenced-in off-leash area in all of Calgary and is often touted as a critical spot for any Calgary dog lover.

Saving on energy costs in style with new window treatments for summer

As summer approaches, the temperature outdoors is starting to heat up – and during these inflationary times, energy costs are also continuing to rise. As of August 2022, Bloomberg reports, one in six American homes were behind on their utility bills.

Because windows are one of the main culprits of air conditioning loss, blinds, shades and drapes are a smart – and stylish – solution to help control the temperature of your home. The right window treatments can reduce heat loss by as much as 64%and save money on energy bills in summer months. Julia Dorn, Executive Director-New Product Development at Graber, shares tips on how to control the cool factor – and your energy bills – this summer:

Cellular Shades: The honeycomb-shaped pockets of Graber Cellular Shades trap air, preventing the sun's heat from entering your room and providing the most energy savings of all our product lines. With our array of colors and patterns, you're sure to find your favorite fabric to make these shades your own.

Solar Shades: If you want to block the sun's heat and glare, but maintain a view to the outdoors, consider Graber Solar Shades. They are specially engineered to allow a view through the fabric while protecting from the sun, including the UV rays that can damage flooring and furniture.

Exterior Solar Shades: With all the benefits of Graber Solar Shades, install these outdoor-grade solar shades around your sun-drenched porch or patio area, and create a cool and comfortable living space.

Drapery: Add a layer of protection against solar heat with gorgeous Graber Drapery. For a plusher, lusher look, pair with blinds or shades, which provide even more insulation.

Motorized shades offer tremendous safety and convenience and have the added benefit of automated scheduling to allow for opening and closing at optimal times. This allows users to block the sun from streaming through windows during peak times, limiting the burden on your cooling system and maximizing energy savings. It's green living that saves you some green.
